WHAM!!

Well, I wrote a contract for the buyer that contacted me Monday! So that means it's going to be a pretty good December, if everything goes through. BUT, not only did that happen for me, but Tuesday, a lead was handed to me for a listing appointment. I went to the appointment yesterday at 6PM and got that Listing! Not only that, but they had spoken to their neighbor across the street, and she told them she wanted to speak me to me about listing her home! So, after getting the listing I was sent out for, I met the neighbor and will more than likely get that listing as well.

And, on the way home, my cell phone rang and it was the listing agent on the home I wrote the contract on for the person that contacted me Monday! It was accepted! So, when I got home, I was more than a little happy. BUT, then, my mother in law told me to go ahead and list her home as well!

So, one sales contract, potentially three listings in one week!!! I am ecstatic and seriously looking forward to the next few months. (Of course, I do reserve the right to get freaked out about finances late at night when I can't fall asleep, ok? )

Well, I'm off to lunch and I think I'll have lunch somewhere that I have to leave a tip, instead of where the food comes wrapped in paper :)

Scott crosses his fingers...

Jen and I have been planning on moving in November before Baby Thigpen (I have a feeling that's what I'm going to call him, it's catchy, in a noncatchy sort of way) is born and are looking. Of course, my job isn't exactly steady or stable just yet, although we can both see it gearing up to be a very good job in the near future. But the near future doesn't pay the bills, does it?

So, Sunday night I had a bit of nervous anxiety about money while trying to go to sleep. I almost started doubting my new career and my ability and my parenting skills, etc etc etc. Almost. I finally pushed (almost) all of the doubt out of my mind and resolved to double my output at work, it will pay off. I mean, I'm contacting 280 people a week, and that's not counting the Office Generated Leads, the many Open Houses I am doing every month or my established contacts. I'm probably contacting over 350 people a week and those numbers will pay off. It's just going to take a little bit of time before it starts cranking out people wanting to buy or sell a home.

I also comforted myself with the knowledge I have three contracts closing in November, well, one on October 30th and two in November, which will effectively almost triple what my monthly salary was when I worked for the State. I started to calm down and drifted off to sleep.

I woke up Monday morning and got to work early and ready to work. I opened up Outlook and there was an email from someone I had contacted a week or so ago who was begging to buy a home from me. I showed her two homes yesterday, today I showed her one of the homes again and she will be in today at 5pm to sign a contract on it!

The way I consider my career is if I make as much as I did at the State, So far, one out of my first three months in Real Estate made as much as I did while I worked for the state. However, it is commonly known that your first year in Real Estate, you don't make much money. So, my fourth month is going to be almost triple what I made at the State and my fifth month is going to be equal to what I made there. That averages out to each month I've been working in Real Estate being a third better than when I was working for the State.

This is of course, if everything goes as planned. Who knows what can happen to these contracts. They all look good and stable, but I'll feel even better when the check is in my hand! And please don't think I'm bragging, my State Job paid in either cash or arcade tokens.

Overheard this evening:

Me : "B, do you want to stay up and watch football with me?"

B: 'I'll pass."

Me: "You'll be able to stay up till 11:30!"

B: "I'm afraid I'll have to pass."

Me: "And we'll eat junk food!"

B: "I'm passing."

Hmmpph, guess she's not as much of a football fan as I thought, which was confirmed when her Mom asked her about the Seminole Tshirt she was wearing and B replied, "I only like FSU, not any other football."
