Ok, we were at the Hospital last night...

Can I write a headline or what? Seriously, though, Jen had been having contractions and tightness pretty much all weekend, but they weren't consistent, were more or less only at night, and weren't severe. So, she was having false labor. False or not, she was in pain and didn't sleep much from Friday night til last night.

Sunday night, she woke me up at 4:30 and told me we may need to call her Mom to come watch B so we could go to the Hospital. Do you remember how it was when you were a kid and you woke up and realized it was Christmas morning (or in my case, at least 2am Christmas morning?) That's right, your eyes shot open and you were awake! So, that's pretty much how I felt when she told me this. So, we sit there, I'm pretty much waiting for her to say 'Ok, let's go.' I am so totally psyched to go.... Jen decides to wait a while and then we will go. The contractions finally ease off..... no joyous trip to the Hospital.

Monday at 2pm I get a call. Hmmm, false labor is almost always at night, say the experts. Jen is having tough contractions and tightness. She wants me to run home, pack the bags, get the cd player, the hair dryer and meet her at the Doctor's office. I beat her there by five minutes. They send us to the Hospital for observations. This is looking good, perhaps Baby Thigp...Ryan is going to be here soon. The L and D room is huge! It's also very nice (the Hospital is only a few months old) The hallways are hardwood and there are fancy inlaid woodwork that looks almost exactly like the symbol that Prince used. (On a side note, I couldn't find an official site for Prince...weird how obscure the guy is now) I'll see if I can get a shot of it, it amused me.

So, Jen gets hooked up to the monitors and I have fun watching them. Our Mothers show up and I get to see how the baby's heart rate reacts to apple juice. They check her out and tell her to walk for an hour, during which she has a lot of contractions. We walk by the nursery several times where there is a newborn baby boy who weighed just over ten pounds at birth. Jen cringes. The Nurse was washing the Baby and he looked severely annoyed.

So, they check her out some more and ask her to walk a bit more so we trudge through the deserted halls for another half hour and they examine her again. She has dilated a little bit more but they send her home.

We did make it to the Moscow Ballet Nutcracker at intermission and see B perform. It was awesome seeing her onstage. She loved it and was extremely excited about being in the Ballet.

So, I'm glad Ryan decided to not arrive yesterday but it is rough being on that roller coaster of excitement and (slight) disappointment. But, now, he can arrive whenever he wants, the sooner , the better!
