This is going to be an awesome Summer...
In every way imaginable. The kids are both amazing. B is currently in the Young Actor's Guild daycamp. She had her first small production last Friday. To anyone that knows her, she is destined to be in movies or on stage. Not only is she a ham, she's also a great actor...as evidenced every time I ask her to clean up her room, pick up her shoes or throw her trash away. Her Mom says she looked absolutely ecstatic to be on stage last Friday. I wasn't able to make it, since they had allotted only two spots per child to attend. I'll be at this week's production, though.
Baby T, well, he is simply Baby T. He has perfected the action of rolling to get where he needs to be. And where he needs to be is usually about six inches off the blanket we lay out for him to play on. And if being six inches off the blanket means he can also be halfway under the couch, entertainment center or loveseat, that's even better.
He is suprisingly strong. He can sit up for a pretty good while, but then his little trunk just sort of melts over until his mouth touches his feet. That doesn't bother him, though, he takes that as a sign to start rolling.
Getting Baby T. to sleep is a completely different story, though. He hates sleep. He fights it with every ounce of cute babyness that he possibly can. So, we don't put him to sleep. Well, of course we do, but it's all in the method, right?
We have figured out there is no reason to take him to the rocking chair in his room, turn out the lights, turn on his music and sound machine and rock him to sleep. He's on to that game. The other night, he was very tired and cranky, so Jen did exactly that. He rolled over in her arms, looked at his Mom....and laughed at her. She then brought him back in the living room, put him on the floor and within five minutes, he was asleep.
I have found that another fine way of putting cranky, sleepy Baby T to sleep is to sit him next to me. That's it. He doesn't think we are trying to make him go to sleep, because of course, that's baby torture, in his mind. Nope, sitting next to Dad like a big boy, that's good. He can do that. Less than five minutes later, he was draped across my lap, sleeping like a log.
